At Reinhardt Transport Group (RTG), leadership means more than scale or fleet size — it means responsibility.
As South Africa’s largest privately owned logistics group, RTG operates across a range of sectors with a national fleet that moves critical goods every day.
We recognise the environmental impact of our operations and have committed ourselves to measuring, managing, meaningfully reducing, and controlling it.
In a sector historically associated with high emissions, RTG is reshaping expectations. Our operations are designed to be efficient, future-ready, and climate-conscious — even within the uniquely complex energy and infrastructure environment of South Africa.
Setting a New Standard in Environmental Accountability
In 2023, RTG achieved a verified reduction of over 5,500 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions.
In 2024, that number nearly doubled, with a further verified reduction of 10,962.083 tonnes of CO₂e.
To put this into perspective: a reduction of 10,962 tonnes of CO₂e is equivalent to removing more than 2,400 passenger vehicles from the road for an entire year — or offsetting the annual electricity use of approximately 1,800 to 4,500 South African households, depending on usage.
These figures are not estimates — they are externally measured, independently verified, and recognised for their credibility.

Working Harder, Emitting Less
What makes these results even more significant is how they were achieved: not through scaled-back activity or a smaller fleet, but at a time when RTG continued to grow, expand, and deliver at full operational strength.
This was not a reduction by retreat — it was a reduction through forward-thinking efficiency models, refined systems, and high-level accountability.
Precision Over Assumption
Every detail of RTG’s operational strategy reflects an intentional commitment to lowering emissions.
From fleet procurement to real-time performance monitoring, nothing is left to chance.
We do not rely on generic assumptions — we rely on independently audited models, whole-fleet analysis, and measurable outcomes.
Transparency with Integrity
Our commitment to responsible logistics is something we are proud to share.
We openly report on our environmental progress because we believe accountability matters — and because we want to help raise the standard for the entire logistics sector.
RTG has proven that large-scale transport operations can deliver measurable emissions reductions without compromising capacity, service quality, or safety.
Embedded Culture, Enduring Commitment
From boardroom to depot floor, our teams are aligned behind a singular goal: to move with purpose.
Sustainability at RTG is not a marketing campaign. It’s an operating philosophy.
These efforts are supported by internal audits, employee training programmes, and a group-wide sustainability roadmap that includes future targets for waste reduction, enhanced water efficiency, and expanded energy optimisation across all operations.
The Road Ahead
As we look to the future, RTG’s commitment remains clear: we will continue to lead, continuously challenging the industry norm and building a legacy of being the most efficient and sustainable logistics group in Southern Africa.
Whether measured in emissions avoided, resources conserved, or pride instilled in our teams, RTG’s sustainability journey is one of intention, inclusion, and measurable progress.
